#60: Collaboration agreement between regional and local actors on irrigation

Description

This instrument is based on an underlying legal framework which allows to conclude collaboration agreements between different actors and relevant user groups of water resources to improve on the basin level.

Function

Collaboration agreements can include a number of organisations for the implementation of the respective competencies, such as river basin organisations, regional government, local administrations, and irrigation associations.

Example: Collaborative agreements between governmental bodies and river basin organizations in Spain

In the Guadalquivir basin in Andalusia, Spain, schemes for collaborative agreement between river basin organizations and regional government, local administration and associations exist. Their aim is to coordinate the implementation of the respective prerogatives.
